Redesigned core MBA course and ITM concentration (20 Minutes)
I would like to present the redesigned core MIS course in our MBA program at the Fox School. The course is compulsory for all MBA majors at the Fox School and is built around three main topics – business processes, disruption, and systems thinking. The curriculum is complemented by a pedagogical approach which relies heavily on case studies, hands on labs and classroom activities. I’ll also talk briefly about our redesigned MBA in ITM concentration. The concentration differentiates itself through a unique blend of innovative curriculum which includes topics such as technology as a change agent, digital business models, information architecture and data analytics, and integration of design principles in management processes.

Amercian Express & Tutor Vista Case Studies (15 minutes)
I wrote the American Express Case to illustrate the strategic role of IT and organizational change management in enabling American Express evolve into a customer centric organization in the last six years. The case brings out the importance of managing the social and technical architecture in a large financial services industry setting. The Tutor Vista Case illustrates a technology enabled business model that fundamentally changed the rules of the game in an industry. This case is about a successful technology enabled business that leverages global resources to provide personalized tutoring to students in North America and Europe. The case brings out how this business model disrupted the existing structure and also reflects the challenges of execution.

Teaching Plan for IT Disruptions and Digital Goods: The Case of the Music Industry (10-15 minutes)
I will present my teaching plan/how I conduct my lecture on IT and its impact on the music industry, and how the learning points from the music industry apply to other digital goods industries.

Simulating IT Decision Making in Large Organizations (10-15 minutes)
I will present a simulation that I use in my core class. The simulation requires students to design a portfolio of IT investments for a fictitious Indian consumer goods firm in alignment with its business strategy. In the process, they address the challenges and trade-offs typically found in IT planning contexts, understand the various contributions of IT to business strategy and the typical classes of IT investments in a large firm, and assess the risk and return to IT investments. At the end of the course, all student groups are given feedback from the board of the firm about the impact of their decisions on various aspects of market and financial performance of the firm. The simulation helps students deal with incomplete data and exposes them to the ambiguity that surrounds IT decision-making in most business contexts.
